Doug Masterson

Doug Masterson  68, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  Douglas Eugene Masterson, Jr. was born November 12, 1955 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Douglas Eugene and Ruby Bracken Masterson, was married to the former Patsy Ann Patterson on August 11, 2007, and was known as ‘Batman’ to both his close friends and co-workers.

     Doug's life was characterized by a steadfast dedication to his loved ones, a commendable work ethic, and a joyous spirit that brightened the lives of many.  Doug was a member of the Baptist faith, served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran, and was revered for his unwavering reliability and skill as he retired from Boilermakers Local #40 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  His colleagues not only respected his workmanship but also cherished his camaraderie and genuine care for those around him.

     Doug's interests and hobbies were as vibrant and diverse as his personality.  He took immense pleasure in playing games of all kinds, finding joy in the challenge and the company of fellow players.  Car rides with his family were among his favorite pastimes, providing opportunities for conversation, reflection, and laughter.  Doug was also known for his compassion towards animals, particularly his cats, whom he cared for with the same tenderness he showed to his family and friends.

     Doug is survived by his wife, Patsy Masterson; two daughters, Crystal Cooper (Alonzo Carbon) and Tonia Masterson (Corey Edwards) both of Owensboro; a step daughter, Stephanie Lee (Owen Lee, Sr.) of St. Joseph; and seven grandchildren, Alonzo Carbon, Jr., Quintel Carbon, Zoya Carbon, Landon Masterson, Coriana Edwards, Darrick Crabtree, and Brandon Crabtree.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 18, 2023 at the chapel of Rosehill / Elmwood Mausoleum with the Rev. Tony Shouse officiating.  Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery with Military Honors.  There will be no public visitation.  Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Doug’s family.
