Elodia Adarminda Gutierrez

Elodia Adarminda Gutierrez, 55, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was born in Bella Vista, Chiapas, Mexico to the late Ernesto Moreno and Maria Luisa Gutierrez.

Elodia was a very hard-working, selfless and nurturing lady who cherished quality time with family, especially birthday celebrations. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking--her bread and tamales were especially appreciated. Elodia was a devout Catholic who faithfully prayed the rosary and was a longtime member of Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. She was a very sociable person who was also generous with her time, talents and treasure. She will be dearly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Francisco Velazquez; a stillborn daughter; an infant sister; and brothers, Nery and Odilia Moreno.

Elodia is survived by her husband, Silvano Diaz; children, Maria, Adriana, Magali and Monica Velazquez, Ernesto and Edwin “Brian” Diaz, Maria Guadalupe and Rosario and Isela Gonzalez; twenty-three grandchildren; siblings, Jose Moreno, Delia Roblero Moreno, Delma Moreno and Emigdio Moreno; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9 at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, with prayers at 6:30 PM, and Saturday from 8:30 until 9:30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
