Eloise Hicks

March 3, 1929 — August 15, 2018

Eloise Hicks, 89 of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Heartford House. She was born March 3, 1929 to the late Lennie and Dessie Oglesby. Eloise was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church for 4 years. She enjoyed watching soap operas, especially The Young and the Restless. Eloise loved her cats, she enjoyed people watching, and getting her hair done. She often relaxed by swinging outside, taking country drives, and looking out the front door. In her younger years, Eloise worked in several local restaurants and in her later years, she was a caregiver. Above all, she loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Julius Hicks; her daughter, Sheila Beyke; her step-daughter, Faye Vandiver; her granddaughter, Linda Bailey; her 2 great-great grandchildren, Bella Rose and Violet Dawn Hocker; her brother, Elbert Oglesby.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Tammy London and Kelly Baugh (Jerry) both of Owensboro; her 4 sons, Danny Hocker (Mary) of Owensboro, David Hocker (Linda) of Utica, Keith Hocker (Connie) of Owensboro, and Roger Dale Carter (Ann) of Hartford, KY; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Rita Brooks of Owensboro.
The service will be 2PM Friday, 8/17/2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Dr. Phillip Hunter will officiate. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. The visitation will be 10AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky c/o Heartford House.
