James Edelen, Jr

James Christopher Edelen Jr, 90, of Owensboro passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mr. Edelen was born May 26, 1928 in Daviess County to the late James Christopher Edelen Sr and Francis Cheatham Edelen. Jim was a self-made man and local farmer. He was a devoted Catholic and life long member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Jim loved his family and especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He enjoyed camping and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Mr. Edelen was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Tabor Edelen; son, Robert Samuel Edelen; brother, John Edelen and sister, Flora Dell Hornbeck.

Survivors include his wife of 52 1/2 years, Joyce Jacobs Edelen; daughter, Nema Blair and husband Michael; five sons, James Edelen III and wife Debbie, John Harrison Edelen and wife Kris, Robert Haws and wife Paula, Glen Haws, and Joseph Edelen and wife Bethany all of Owensboro; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be noon Monday, October 1 at St. Stephen Cathedral with Fr. Sinoj Pynadath officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm with prayers at 5:00 pm lead by Fr. Sinoj Pynadath and Bro. Jimmy Bunch and Monday from 9:00 am till 11:30 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Heartford House/Hospice of Western KY or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
