April 22, 1953 — December 13, 2022

Owensboro

Janice Mae Thurman Duncan, 69, of Owensboro left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Twin Rivers Nursing Home. She was born April 22, 1953 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky to the late Briskol Thurman and Ressie H. Henderson Crabtree. Janice was a 1971 Owensboro High School graduate. She was loved by many and was considered to be everyone’s “rock.” She was also a faithful member of Pellville Baptist Church, where she enjoyed gathering and listening to the word of God.

Janice enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to go shopping, especially her shopping trips to Walmart. Everyone was considered family to Janice; she had a loving soul and gave that motherly care that comforted all.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, Hubert Duncan and great-granddaughter, Jazmine.

Janice is survived by her children, David (Stacey) Duncan of Owensboro, Hubert (Holly) Duncan of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Jennifer (Brian) Patterson of Hawesville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Dani Duncan, John Schwoeppe, Jr., Amanda Melloh, Heaven Boone, Michael Boone, Jordan Patterson, Bradley Patterson, Sierra Patterson, Leland Patterson, Ellie Brickles, and Bryson Brickles; great-grandchildren, Grayson Boone, Waylon Kingsbury, Braelyn Boone, Gracelynn Melloh, and Lucas Boone; siblings, Linda (JT) Hale of Owensboro, Ann (Randy) Lamb of Owensboro, J.B. (Neoma) Thurman of Vanzant, Kentucky, Roger (Shelia) Thurman of Utica, Kentucky, David Thurman of Vanzant, and Booney (Debbie) Thurman of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
