Mary Jacqueline Smith was born May 7, 1950 in Owensboro, Ky to the late Geneva Morton Smith.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Center Street Baptist Church where she was the church clerk, financial secretary, Sunday School teacher, and choir member.
She was loved by all who knew her, never met a stranger, but God loved her best. She departed this life on September 12, 2023 at Owensboro Regional Health System.
She was employed by The Housing Authority of Owensboro, OMICO Plastics Inc, and OMHS where she retired.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda White and a brother, Sylvester Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memory two (2) daughters, Garlynda J. Smith and Stephanie R. Smith; four (4) sisters, Nancy (Keith) Gore of Clarksville, Tennessee, Jonell (Mike) Modock, Shelia (Annie) Smith, and Karen (Anthony) Johnson all of Owensboro, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins along with a community of friends.
A celebration of life will be at noon on Saturday September 16, 2023 at Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle Carlos Lamar officiating and Rev. Willie E. Grubbs, pastor. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Rosehill-Elmwood cemetery.
