Phyllis J. Jones

Phyllis J. Jones, 84, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, with her family by her side. The Greenville native was born September 16, 1939, as one of seven children to the late Bernard and Etta Hill Drake. Phyllis graduated from Muhlenberg County High School, class of 1957. After marriage to Lindel Jones, the couple moved to Gary, Indiana for several years during which time their two children were born. Lindel decided to purchase a Landshire Foods franchise in this area and they moved to Owensboro where Phyllis helped her husband run the business. She enjoyed her time outdoors and the flowers growing in her yard. Phyllis received much pleasure from her grandchildren as they grew up and they loved her dearly. 

 In addition to her parents, Phyllis also was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lindel C. Jones in 2015; her siblings, Eleanor Bacha, Josephine Schreiner, Judy Eiland, Ruby Ray, and Benny Drake. 

 Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Scott Jones (Tammy) and Beth Steele (Matt) both of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Brandon Jones (Mandy), Mitchell Jones, Jillian Jones, Drake Steele, John Andrew Steele; three great grandchildren, Olivia Jones, Cyler and Kysen Thompson; sister, Muriel Cundiff; numerous nieces and nephews.   

 The funeral will be noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
