Priscilla Ann Panagos Payne

July 15, 1939 — November 12, 2023

Lone Tree

Priscilla Payne, 84, formerly of Owensboro, passed away in Lone Tree, Colorado. The daughter of the late George L. Panagos and Evelyn Carrico Panagos Downs, Priscilla grew up in Owensboro knowing the love of her life, Marshall Lee Payne, since childhood.

Priscilla was a vibrant woman who regarded family first with an emphasis on tradition. She raised four children while supporting Marshall’s career. As her children grew independent, she worked at Joslins Department Store and Red Rocks Community College. Family celebrations, traveling, and fishing were some of her favorite pastimes. Priscilla loved hats and as a member of the Red Hat Society, she wore her hat proudly! Dressing up and either hosting a party or going out to a party to dance brought her joy.

Crafting, gardening, church, community choir, and genealogy research kept her busy in retirement and she was a member of the Veitch Historical Society and The Dancing Grannies. A Denver Bronco season ticket holder since the early 70s, you could always count on Priscilla to cheer for her home team!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Marshall, in 2013.

Survivors include her children, Tracy Bartlett (Dave) of Colorado, Sharon Pyle (Kevin) of Colorado, Alex Payne of Florida, and Michael Payne (Kristy) of Colorado; sister, Janie Hancock of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Caroline Panagos of New Mexico; grandchildren, Trevor Pyle (Kristen), Aubrie Fletcher (Ben), Shaylee Clark (Ryan), Sarah Humrick (Hans), Madison Bills, Lauren Payne, Cassidy Dilley, Travis Payne, and Corbin Payne, who called her "Grandmama"; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Drinkwine Family Mortuary, 999 West Littleton Blvd., Littleton, Colorado, with a reception following immediately after the service at Drinkwine Reception Hall.
