Wallace (Wally) Hancock

October 2, 1951 — May 26, 2019

Wallace G. (Wally) Hancock Jr., 67, of Owensboro, passed from this earthly home on Sunday, May 26, 2019 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Wally was born on October 2, 1951 to Wallace G. Hancock Sr. and Beverly Hancock. After attending Owensboro High School, he entered the U.S. Army where his legacy began as a proud Vietnam veteran.

He was a member of F.O. Eagles, VFW Post 696, American Legion Post 9, Amvets, as well as Crosspointe Baptist Church. Wally was a Kentucky Colonel and a strong advocate for veteran's rights.

He retired from Haskell Construction Co., had a passion for NASCAR racing, collecting lighters and knives, watching westerns, and would have been the best "phone a friend" you could ask for in the Movie Category.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace G. Sr.; his sister, Cynthia A. Basham; and a nephew, David G. Brown.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Beverly Hancock; his brother, David C. Hancock (Debbie); his sister, Tambra Dunn (Tom); nephews, Jarred, Brandon, and Zac Brown, Jeffrey Hancock; nieces, Theda Jordan, Jessica Heichelbech, and Lindsay Rone, as well as many more great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be at noon on Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
