Willa Jean Jackson, 93, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Muhlenberg County to the late Clarence Fred and Susie M. Hughes Barrow.
Ms. Jackson retired from National Linen in 1995 after more than thirty years of service. She was previously employed by General Electric and Owensboro Telephone Co. During retirement Jean worked as a senior companion for Audubon Area Services for five years. She was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church. Jean was an avid U.K. Basketball fan, an animal lover (especially cats), fan of classic westerns and a good cook. She grew up in a time when not all ladies opted to drive, and she never did. By choice, her primary transportation was walking, which likely contributed to her good health and longevity!
Ms. Jackson was preceded in death by an infant son in 1967; a son, Dale Allen Wilkey in 1973; and brothers, Bobby Joe Barrow, Fred R. “Buddy” Barrow and Billy Ray Barrow.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Schell (John) and Linda Alvey, both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kevin Alvey, Adam Alvey, Aaron Schell and Olivia Schell; and a great-granddaughter, Kalin Alvey.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, March 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Private burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.
