Donald Isbell

November 24, 1937 — January 10, 2015

Donald Parker Isbell, 77, of Owensboro died Saturday, January 10 at his home. He was born in Owensboro to the late Parker and Nanette Elizabeth Osborne Isbell.

Don was an avid sportsman and University of Kentucky Basketball fan. He also loved bass fishing, bowling, and horse racing. He won many bowling trophies, caught bass over ten pounds, and went to the winner's circle many times as a horse trainer. Sports brought him many proud moments.

Don was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High, formerly attended Blessed Mother Catholic Church and served in the Army Reserves. In his early years he worked at McAtee's in downtown Owensboro. He also had his own carpet business before becoming a thoroughbred horse trainer.

Don was a kind and loving man that loved God and his family very much. He will be missed and loved always.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Parker and infant sister, Mary Elizabeth.

Don is survived by nine siblings, Elizabeth Medley, David Isbell (Linda), Patricia Vaught, Richard Isbell, all of Owensboro, Phil Isbell of Newburgh, IN, Tim Isbell (Sharon) of Cincinnati, OH, Chris Isbell (Gaye), Greg Isbell, and Judy Adams (Randy), all of Owensboro; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a best friend of the family, Michael Hicks.

Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, January 12 from 4-8 PM (with prayers at 7). A private service will be held.
