Mary Havener

January 26, 1930 — April 28, 2020

Mary Magdalene Adams Havener, 90, of Owensboro, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born January 26, 1930, in Oil Springs, KY to the late Kernie Adams (1956) and Dora Scott Adams (1961). She married, Jack, the love of her life on February 1, 1947. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, doing fill-in puzzles, Billy Jacobs art, listening to her wind chimes, spending time with her family, and most of all her personal time with God.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Jack” Havener, Sr. (1973); son, Barry Havener (2013); daughter-in-law, Gena Havener (1998); grandson, Shane Havener (2013); great-grandson, Jayson White (1999); and siblings, Irene Paris (2002), Maxine Potts (2007), Christine Martin (2010), Arnold Adams (1971), Billie Brown (1973), Donald Adams (2012), Dick Adams (2008), Palmer Adams (2019), and John Adams (2012).

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jim & Jana Havener of Newburgh, IN, David & Brenda Havener of West Louisville, KY, and Dan & Darlene Havener of Bon Aire, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Janet & Douglas Harry of Owensboro, KY; grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan & Tish Havener, Tim & Sherry Orf, Davina Havener, Deke Havener & Shannon Manning, Amy & Bobby Tyson, Jackie & Gabe Gamez, Justin & Tami Havener, Jay Havener, Josh Havener, JonMical & Lacy Harry, and Chandra Harry & Donovan Hulsey; great-grandchildren, Layla Havener, Kaitlyn Orf, Mitchell Orf, Lexi Orf, Dezmond McHenry, Layne Manning, Daken Havener, Azlyn Havener, Mia Tyson, Gabriel Gamez, Joseph Gamez, Jacob Gamez, Hank Havener, Hattie Havener, and Ryker Harry; sisters-in-law, Beth Adams, Shirlee Adams, Dixie Little, Joyce Havener of Owensboro, and Carolyn Adams of Henderson; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Glynda Turner and Nancy Shrewsberry.

The family wishes to thank Hospice for the wonderful care they provided their mom especially: Robin, Trish, Kim, Adam, Amy, Candace, and Dr. Jeremy Luckett.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, services for Mrs. Havener will be private at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
